Social responsibility is very comprehensive in scope and includes all aspects of the human interface to our business processes as well as the programs associated with it, touching on aspects such as safety , health, environment, community services, corporate social responsibility, talent management, training and career development, transparency and complaint management. It includes all the human interfaces that take place internally and externally throughout our business transactions
Empowering communities has always been an important part of our business strategy. We engage with them and their families through programs in education, sustainable livelihoods, healthcare, infrastructure development and social development. We have a dedicated CSR budget, a defined CSR policy and a CSR committee that monitors and approves all our CSR related activities and expenditures.
We strive to create a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and workers. We encourage our employees to report safety deficiencies and opportunities for improvement. This is supported by our IT support tool, where staff can register their observations and then take corrective action. Our safety policy, safety principles and integrated safety management system aim to achieve the overall goal of ‘Zero Harm’.

One of the main focuses of our CSR activities is to provide sustainable livelihoods to local communities to enhance their living standards. This is achieved by allowing them to generate additional income through skills development and training or supporting projects with grants and associations.
Commitment to Water, Sanitation (WASH)
The WASH at Work Commitment (“WASH Commitment”) was launched in September 2013 to address the WBCSD’s 2020 Water Must Have Action to significantly accelerate the progressive realization of the human right to water and sanitation, compared to the 2012 baseline. This is a social must-have linked to the WBCSD Vision


Going further on the positive side of water – On-farm water management
Water management at Ecofa’s farms and production areas is strictly controlled to ensure water recovery after fiber treatment for irrigation, avoiding waste of water resources.
